Code of Conduct

Ensuring a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is committed to creating an environment that is safe, inclusive, and welcoming to our guests. Everybody, including staff, guests, and other visitors, has a responsibility to uphold this environment. We expect guests and staff to treat one another, as well as our animals, with respect and care.

By visiting Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, you agree you have read and agree to adhere to our Code of Conduct, which helps protect both people and animals.

Code of Conduct

Communicate with Respect: Harassment, obscene behaviour, hate speech, racism, offensive gestures, fighting or physical aggression, or otherwise abusive treatment of any other guest or staff member will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to direct anyone who does not follow these rules to leave the aquarium without warning.

Respect the Animals : Respect all barriers. Do not enter exhibits, feed animals, or toss items into exhibits. Do not bang on or rattle barriers.

Respect the Staff : If a staff member asks you to comply with a rule or policy, please do so.

Prohibited Items: For the safety of our guests and staff, any kind of weapon (including guns or knives), open alcohol, and illegal drugs are not permitted anywhere on-site. Other items such as cannabis, tobacco, vaping products, wagons, scooters, backpack-style child carriers, balloons, décor items, tripods, external lighting equipment, “selfie sticks,” and sports equipment are not allowed inside the attraction. You will be asked to check these items at our coat check.

Attire : Clothing featuring images or language that could be perceived as offensive or discriminatory to a reasonable person, or clothing featuring obscene gestures/graphics or nudity, is not permitted inside the aquarium. Guests are expected to wear clothing on both their upper body and lower body, and shoes on their feet. Tattoos that feature images or messages that could be perceived as offensive or discriminatory to a reasonable person must be covered.

Service Animals: Pets are not permitted inside the aquarium. Service animals and guide dogs (as defined by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act ) are permitted inside the aquarium. We reserve the right to request valid documentation confirming that an animal is a service animal. Please see here for our service animal policy.

Behaviour : Any behaviour that is disruptive to the experience of other guests (such as shouting, wrestling, jumping, running, or jostling) or is harmful to the animals (throwing items into the exhibit or banging on the exhibits) or intoxication or smoking (including e-cigarettes and vaping) may result in immediate removal from the aquarium.

Supervision : Guests under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a guest over the age of 13. Guests accompanying children under the age of 13 are responsible for ensuring that the children under their supervision are adhering to this Code of Conduct.

Last Entry : Last entry is one hour prior to closure. Closing of the building begins 30 minutes before closure.

Photography : Flash photography is not permitted inside the aquarium. Unsolicited photography or video recording of guests or staff members without their permission is not permitted. Commercial photography is not permitted without permission from Ripley’s Management.

Consequences : Any guest found in violation of this Code of Conduct may be warned to change their behaviour or asked to leave the aquarium without warning. Ripley’s reserves the right to involve law enforcement, change membership status, issue a notice of trespass, or take other steps as needed to preserve the safety and enjoyment of guests and staff.

Ripley’s reserves the right to revise or modify this Code of Conduct with or without notice.

This Code of Conduct will be interpreted and applied in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and other applicable law. If you require an accommodation based on a protected ground with respect to any of the terms of the Code of Conduct, please contact us and we will arrange for accommodation to the point of undue hardship.
